The Math Forum @ Drexel: Math Books Recommended
These above titles would definitely appeal to those who already breathe math. Indeed, a worthy gift to any high-school math student!
ReplyDeleteWhat about sharing the mathematical gospel for an innumerate, often mathophobic, public?
Recreational math titles, written by the late Martin Gardner, could help win over some lost mathematical souls! And those pop math titles by Keith Delvin, Clifford Pickover, and Ivars Peterson, to name a few, would also entice many to rekindle their love for the subject, if only more would pick up books by these math popularizers.
You're right. I should have included books for the mathophobics to get them interested or get them change their negative attitudes toward maths.
ReplyDeleteI believe the first book "Mathematicians" would also be of interest to philosophy students.
