Fun Puzzle: A rider on a horse statue

Could you tell how the rider died by the number of legs in the air that a horse statue has?








What if the "rider" is NOT on the horse, could we still tell how he died?

  1. On a statue of a horse and rider, the number of legs in the air reveals information about how the rider died:

    1.Both legs in the air means they died during a battle
    2.One leg in the air means they died later of wounds inflicted during a battle.
    3.On a statue or grave covering of a knight, the crossing of the legs (sometimes arms) indicates whether they took part in a crusade.
    4.If the rider is not on the horse that means he survived the battle without a scratch...
